Iām a 28 year old Gameplay Developer from Northern Ireland.
ā
I have been playing games for about 23 years, since my parents got me and my brothers a PS2 for Christmas and I got Ratchet and Clank. I had played games before then, like Goldeneye on my cousins GameCube, but until that point had never played a game so fun and engaging, by the time I left Veldin, I was hooked!
ā
Since then I have had so many important memories due to gaming, be it saving the galaxy in Mass Effect, or playing the original Lego Star Wars with my brother, gaming has always and will always be a part of my life, and being able to contribute to the industry has always been a dream.
Some of my favourite games:
After getting my Bachelor's in Physics from Queen's University Belfast, I worked at Deloitte as an Robotic Process Automation (RPA) Developer for three years. After which I came to the decision that being an RPA Developer wasn't what I wanted to do as I didn't feel any personal connection to my work.
I decided to pursue a career in game development due to my life long passion for games, and have spent a year learning everything I could about Game Programming and Design. After which I was fortunate enough to get a job as a Junior Gameplay Programmer at Rebellion Developments.
At Rebellion I quickly fell in love with the movement side of things, especially getting to work closely with animators to make the player movement feel satisfying and smooth. After a year I was promoted to Gameplay Programmer, and have continue to work my hardest to deliver good work and develop my skills.
Outside of video games, I am a huge fan of Dungeons and Dragons, and love DM'ing for my friends where i can build cool and interesting worlds for us to experience together.
I also like to paint miniatures as a way to relax and decompress on the weekends.
ā
I love to cook and experiment with new recipes, specifically from regions of the world I may not have tried before.
I am a huge fan of the manga One Piece, having read through it more times than I would like to admit. As for more traditional novels, Frank Herbert's Dune is probably my favourite boom series of all time.
